b. Block Heater
NOTE
Cut as close to electrical outlet plug as possible.
(1)
Cut three block heater wires (68), (69), and (70) as close as possible to electrical outlet plug (71). Discard
electrical outlet plug.
(2)
Remove 0.25 in. (6 mm) of insulation from end of three block heater wires (68), (69), and (70).
(3)
Remove 0.25 in. (6 mm) of insulation from both ends of three 6-ft. (1.83 m) bulk wires (72), (73), and (74).
(4)
Connect end of ridged block heater wire (68) with end of black bulk wire (72) using wire connector (75).
(5)
Connect end of green block heater wire (69) with end of green bulk wire (73) using wire connector (76).
(6)
Connect end of smooth block heater wire (70) with end of white bulk wire (74) using wire connector (77).
(7)
Remove plug (78) from engine block (43). Discard plug.
(8)
Install block heater (79) in engine block (43).
(9)
Connect block heater plug (80) to block heater (79) and tighten nut (81).
Use care when routing wires to ensure wires avoid hot or moving components. Failure to comply will
result in damage to equipment.
(10) Route wires (72), (73), and (74) to LH side of engine. Do not secure wires with cable ties at this time.
