Section TS - Troubleshooting Symptoms
Lubricating Oil Consumption Excessive
This is symptom tree T102.
Inspect the engine and its components for
External engine leak
seal, gasket, tappet cover, oil cooler, or drain
rankcase oil level above specification
Verify that the dipstick is correctly marked.
Refer to Procedure 007-009.
Change the oil and filters. Refer to Procedure
007013 or 007-025. Use the oil type recom-
ubricating oil does not meet specifications for

Inspect the air crossover tube for evidence of
urbocharger leaking lubricating oil to the air

Check the air lines for carbon buildup and
