Attaching Hydraulic Hand Tools and Hose Reel Operation

WARNING
Do not activate the hydraulic tool circuit when the tools are disconnected from the hose reel fittings.
Doing so will cause excessive oil temperature resulting in damage to the pump and possible injury
to personnel.
Always connect the tool to the reel hydraulic lines before activating the hydraulic reel circuit.
Failure to follow this warning may result in injury to personnel.
NOTE
The following procedures apply to all hydraulic tools.
Operators may release the pin and swing the hose reel before attaching hydraulic hand tools in
order to make attaching and operating tools easier.
1.
Lay tool on tarp or clean, dry surface.
2.
Pull the hoses (Figure 101, Item 3) from the reel (Figure 101, Item 4).
CAUTION
Wipe the quick-release coupling with a lint-free cloth before attaching the hoses. Damage to the
internal parts of the tool could result from dirt on the couplings.
3.
Clean the couplings of both the tool and the hoses with a clean, lint-free cloth.
4.
Connect the quick-release coupling between the tool and the hoses.
5.
Switch ON the hydraulic circuit activation switch in the cab.
