TESTING FIELD WINDING FOR GROUND
CIRCUITS
Set ohmmeter to read on highest scale.

Place one test lead on a clean spot on field frame. Place

other lead on brush lead.

If the ohmmeter indicator swings toward zero, a grounded
circuit is indicated. Replace the field windings.

FIELD WINDING--REMOVAL
Mark position of pole shoes and winding ends and
unscrew pole shoe screws (A).
