TROUBLESHOOTING PROCEDURE

Malfunction
1.
Verify key switch is in OFF
1.
Crankshaft Sensor
position (TM 5-3805-294-10).
Timing Wheel
Loose.
(Volume 5, WP 0794)
2.
Disconnect engine wiring
harness connector X01 from
crankshaft position sensor
(Volume 5, WP 0800, Figure
82) and secure connector
away from rotating
components.
3.
Turn key switch to ON position,
but DO NOT START ENGINE
(TM 5-3805-294-10). (Volume
5, WP 0794)
4.
Refresh DTCs. (Volume 3,
WP 0362)
5.
Attempt to start engine (TM
5-3805-294-10). (Volume 5,
WP 0794)
6.
If engine started, operate
engine for one minute through
various rpm ranges while
monitoring DTCs (TM
5-3805-294-10). (Volume 5,
WP 0794) Note if engine ran
and had good performance.
7.
Shut down engine and turn key
1.
If engine ran and had good
switch to OFF position (TM
performance, timing wheel is
5-3805-294-10). (Volume 5,
loose, replace engine.
WP 0794)
(Volume 3, WP 0410) Restore
machine to original condition
and perform Harness
Diagnostic Mode Test.

If engine ran poorly or did not
start, proceed to Malfunction 2.
