If the lamp goes out, replace the alternator.
Abnormal Charging System Operation
To verify a Delco alternator is operational, momentarily
touch a jumper lead between the battery terminal "B+"
and "R" or "I" terminals on the alternator while the alter-
nator is spinning. This will turn the alternator on if it is
operational. Test the alternator's output. Replace alterna-
tor if necessary.
Check the battery and all wiring connections.
Inspect the wiring for defects. Check all connections for
tightness and cleanliness, including the slip connectors at
the alternator and firewall, and connections at the battery.

A zero reading indicates an open circuit between the al-
ternator connections and the battery.
Locate and repair the open circuit.
