PREPARATION FOR TOWING CONTINUED
WARNING
Exercise extreme caution when towing to ensure that neither the quick hitch nor the top of the cab
or backhoe boom collide with any overhanging structures (bridges, power lines, etc.). Failure to
follow this warning may result in injury or death to personnel and damage to equipment.
CAUTION
Exercise extreme caution when towing over uneven terrain and when turning to ensure that the
structure of the HMEE-I and the towing vehicle do not collide. Failure to follow this caution may
result in damage to the HMEE-I and the towing vehicle.
Ensure that the loader arms are raised only sufficiently to avoid contact between the HMEE-I and
the towing vehicle. Failure to follow this caution may result in damage to the HMEE-I and the
towing vehicle.
5.
Raise the loader arms sufficiently to ensure there will be no contact with the towing vehicle during the towing operation.
However, do not raise the loader arms higher than necessary to maintain the necessary clearance.
6.
Lower the suspension to the Transportation/Limp-home mode (WP 0004).
7.
If the engine cannot be started, operate the recovery hydraulics (WP 0004) to dump any load from the front bucket, to
position the bucket for removal, and to raise the loader arms.
8.
Position the recovery vehicle:
a.
The HMEE-I front towing lugs are configured to accept the MS500048 tow bar and medium-duty clevis set or
equivalent.
CAUTION
The tow bar must be rated for the full weight of the machine. Check the transportability data plate
(self-deploy mode) to determine the full weight of the machine. Failure to follow this caution may
result in damage to equipment.
