REPAIRED, FILLED, OR ADJUSTED AS NEEDED
IF:
(21) Remove air bleed plugs (C) from hydraulic
pump until oil flows from bleed lines.
(22) Install air bleed plugs in hydraulic pump.
(23) Install cap.
(24) Purge air from cylinders and swing motor by
cycling hydraulic functions.

Check and Adjust Engine Valve Lash (Clearance)
CAUTION: Valve clearance MUST BE
checked and adjusted with engine COLD.
CAUTION: Prevent accidental starting of
engine while performing valve adjustments.
Always disconnect NEGATIVE (-) battery
terminal.
(1) Remove rocker arm cover and engine crankcase
ventilation tube. Clean tube with solvent or
diesel fuel. Inspect rocker arm O-ring.
NOTE: Visually inspect contact surfaces of
valve tips and rocker arm wear pads. Check
all parts for excessive wear, breakage, or
cracks. Replace parts that show visible
damage.
Rocker arms that exhibit excessive valve
clearance should be inspected more
thoroughly to identify damaged parts.
