QUALITY OF MATERIAL
Material used for replacement, repair, or modification must meet the requirements of this Hydraulic Excavator
(HYEX) Type 1, NSN 3805-01-573-0677, Field Maintenance Manual (TM 5-3805-294-23). If quality of material
requirements are not stated in this maintenance manual, the material must meet the requirements of the drawings,
standards, specifications, or approved engineering change proposals applicable to the Hydraulic Excavator (HYEX
Type 1, NSN 3805-01-573-0677.
COMMON TOOLS AND EQUIPMENT
Common tools and equipment are issued to field level maintenance personnel for maintaining Hydraulic Excavator
(HYEX) Type 1 machines. The General Mechanic's Tool Kit (GMTK) is required for all maintenance tasks. Common
tools and equipment should not be used for purposes other than those prescribed and should be properly stored
when not in use. For authorized common tools and equipment, refer to the Modified Table of Organization and
Equipment (MTOE), CTA 50-970. (Volume 5, WP 0794)
SPECIAL TOOLS, TMDE, AND SUPPORT EQUIPMENT
The Maintenance Allocation Chart (MAC) identifies the authority and responsibility for maintenance tasks listed in
this manual. Tool kits, test equipment, and diagnostic equipment required to perform maintenance tasks listed in the
MAC. The Repair Parts and Special Tools List (RPSTL), TM 5-3805-294-24P (Volume 5, WP 0794), lists special
tools and equipment required to perform maintenance procedures in this manual.
TEST EQUIPMENT
HYEX machines are equipped with a John Deere Service Advisor (J1939) Diagnostic Connector located by the air
filter housing.
