Caution: The gear will be permanently distorted if over-
heated. The oven temperature should never exceed
177C [350F].
Heat the camshaft gear in a preheated oven at 149C
[300F] for 45 minutes.
Heat the gear for bolted camshafts (steel gear) to 177C
[350F].
Wear protective gloves to prevent personal injury.
Install the gear with the timing marks away from the cam-
shaft.
Be sure the gear is seated against the camshaft
shoulder.
Automotive engines, manufactured before 1994, that
use Bosch P7100 fuel pumps require a camshaft
capscrew be installed. Refer to procedure (1-21)
If the camshaft is not to be used immediately, lubricate the
lobes and journals to prevent rusting.
