Section 14 - Engine Testing - Group 14
Operate the engine at torque peak rpm and full load for 4
minutes. Check the gauges and record the readings.
NOTE: Refer to the engine data sheet for the torque peak
rpm of the engine model being tested.
Operate the engine at rated speed (rpm) and full load for
4 minutes. Check the gauges, and record the readings.
Compare the readings to those published on the appro-
priate engine data sheet.
CAUTION
Do not shut off the engine immediately after the run-in
is completed. Allow the engine to cool by operating it
at low idle for a minimum of 3 minutes to avoid internal
component damage.
Make sure all instrumentation is removed before removing
the vehicle from the dynamometer.

On-Highway Applications
NOTE: Refer to General Engine Test Procedures (Chassis
Dynamometer) (Procedure 014-005) before operating the
engine to avoid internal component damage.
Operate the engine at 1500 to 1800 rpm in high gear for the
first 80 to 160 km [50 to 100 mi] after rebuild.
