Mount the pump in a suitable bracket and hold pump with
a vise.

Remove the pressure relief valve and sealing washers.
Remove the jump-over tube.
Thoroughly flush the pressure relief valve with a cleaning
solution.
Use a small screwdriver to check that the check ball is not
sticking in the pressure relief valve assembly.
A sticky check ball will result in engine low power and
hard starting.
Replace the relief valve assembly if necessary.
