Initial Check (016-008-001)
Inspect the ring gear teeth for cracks and chips.
NOTE: If the ring gear teeth are damaged, the ring gear
must be replaced.
Remove (016-008-002)
WARNING
The component weighs 23 kg [50 lb] or more. To avoid
personal injury, use a hoist or get assistance to lift the
component.
Remove the flywheel. Refer to Procedure 016-005.
WARNING
To avoid severe eye damage, wear eye protection when
you drive the gear from the flywheel. Do not use a steel
drift pin.
Brass Drift Pin
Use the brass drift pin to drive the ring gear from the
flywheel.
Install (016-008-026)
Heat the new ring gear for 20 minutes in an oven preheated
to 127C [260F].
