Inspect the thrust washers and thrust bearings
for excessive wear or damage. Replace worn
or damaged parts (Figure 69).

9. Place the input shaft assembly in a clean area.
10. Remove the bearing cap from the vise and place it on the bench with the salt seal facing you.
11. Pry the salt seal from the cap using a small
screwdriver (Figure 71).
