TRANSMISSION WILL NOT SHIFT INTO HIGH/LOW RANGE.
NOTE
To perform this troubleshooting, the ignition switch must be in the IGN position, the EGS must be in
the N (Neutral) position, and the air system must be fully pressurized.
Step 1.
Check high/low shift cylinder (1) for bent control rod.
If control rod on high/low shift cylinder (1) is bent, replace control rod (Para 4-18).
Remove all jewelry such as rings, dog tags, bracelets, etc. If jewelry or tools contact positive
electrical circuits, a direct short may result. Damage to equipment and injury or death to personnel
may occur.
Step 2.
Check high-range relay in PDP box for proper operation (refer to FO-1).
If high-range relay is not operating properly, replace relay (Para 12-15).
Step 3.

Check RANGE SHIFT switch (2) for proper operation and ensure LED indicator (2.1) illuminates.
If RANGE SHIFT switch (2) is not operating properly, replace RANGE SHIFT switch (Para 12-14).
If LED indicator (2.1) does not illuminate, replace valve island (Para 12-34.1).
