b. Front Shaft Removal.
NOTE
The slip joints are precisely aligned on the steering shafts. Ensure alignment is maintained during
maintenance. Do not separate.
(1)
Remove bolt (19), two washers (20), and self-locking nut (21) from U-joint (22). Discard self-locking nut.
(2)
Remove bolt (23), two washers (24), and self-locking nut (25) from U-joint (26). Discard self-locking nut.
(3)
Remove three self-locking nuts (27) and washers (28) from miter box (29). Discard self-locking nuts.
(4)
Remove U-joint (26) from steering box assembly shaft (30).
(5)
Remove U-joint (22) from miter box shaft (31).
(6)
Remove front steering shaft (32).
