Remove all jewelry such as rings, dog tags,
bracelets, etc. If jewelry or tools contact
positive electrical circuits, a direct short may
result. Damage to equipment and injury or
death to personnel may occur.
NOTE
Cut as close to wire connectors as possible.

Cut wire connector (5) from ridged block
heater wire (6) and black bulk wire (7).
Discard wire connector.

Cut wire connector (8) from green block
heater wire (9) and green bulk wire (10).
Discard wire connector.

Cut wire connector (11) from smooth block
heater wire (12) and white bulk wire (13).
Discard wire connector.
b. Installation.
NOTE
Ensure all wires are reconnected to
positions noted prior to removal.
Install cable ties as necessary.
Cut as close to electrical outlet plug as
possible.

If replacing block heater (3), cut electrical
outlet plug (14) from three new block heater
wires (6), (9), and (12).
(2)
Remove 0.25 in. (6 mm) of insulation from
end of three block heater wires (6), (9),
and (12).
(3)
Remove 0.25 in. (6 mm) of insulation from
both ends of three bulk wires (7), (10),
and (13).
(4)
Connect end of smooth block heater wire (12) with end of white bulk wire (13) with new wire connector (11).
(5)
Connect end of green block heater wire (9) with end of green bulk wire (10) with new wire connector (8).
(6)
Connect end of ridged block heater wire (6) with end of black bulk wire (7) with new wire connector (5).
(7)
Install electrical tape on connections.
(8)
Install block heater (3) in engine block (4).
(9)
Connect block heater plug (2) to block heater (3) and tighten nut (1).
