b. Installation.
Remove all jewelry such as rings, dog tags, bracelets, etc. If jewelry or tools contact positive electrical
circuits, a direct short may result. Damage to equipment and injury or death to personnel may occur.
NOTE
Ensure all wires are reconnected to positions noted prior to removal.
(1)
Remove 0.25 in. (6 mm) of insulation from end
of three trickle charger wires (10), (14),
and (18).
(2)
Remove 0.25 in. (6 mm) of insulation from end
of three block heater wires (9), (13), and (17).
(3)
Remove 0.25 in. (6 mm) of insulation from end
of three electrical outlet wires (8), (12),
and (16).
(4)
Connect ends of white trickle charger wire (18),
white block heater wire (17), and smooth
electrical outlet wire (16) with wire
connector (15).
(5)
Connect ends of green trickle charger wire (14),
green block heater wire (13), and green
electrical outlet wire (12) with wire
connector (11).
(6)
Connect ends of black trickle charger wire (10),
black block heater wire (9), and ridged
electrical outlet wire (8) with wire
connector (7).
(7)
Install electrical tape on connections.
(8)
Install cover (5) on plug holder (3) and install
on battery box (6) with two screws (4).
(9)
Install plug (2) in plug holder (3) until detent
ball (1) locks into hole of plug holder (3).
c. Follow-On Maintenance.
(1)
Install hydraulic reservoir step plate
(Para 13-15).
(2)
Close battery box (TM 5-2420-230-10).
(3)
Plug in electrical outlet and ensure battery
trickle charger and block heater are operating
properly (TM 5-2420-230-10).
(4)
Unplug electrical outlet if ambient temperature does not require its use (TM 5-2420-230-10).
