Install shim (Figure 13, Item 13) to pin (Figure 13, Item 10).
WARNING
Personnel should stay clear of the boom while retracting or extending the boom cylinder. Use
slow easy control movements. Fast or jerky movements could cause the boom cylinder to
retract or extend suddenly and cause the machine to be unstable. Failure to comply may
result in injury or death to personnel.

With the aid of an assistant and suitable lifting device (Figure 13, Item 4), slowly extend boom cylinder (Figure
13, Item 3) until it is in alignment with pin (Figure 13, Item 10).
31.
Push pin (Figure 13, Item 10) into boom cylinder (Figure 13, Item 3) and boom (Figure 13, Item 11).
32.
Shut down engine (TM 5-3805-294-10).
33.
Install shim (Figure 14, Item 12) to pin (Figure 14, Item 10).
