a. Removal.
(1)
If reusing steering column, scribe and remove bolt, washer, and nut at end of steering column and U-joint.
(2)
Remove four bolts (1), eight washers (2),
four self-locking nuts (3), and steering
column (4) from bracket (5). Discard
self-locking nuts.
(3)
Deleted.
(4)
Loosen clamp (6) to remove dust boot (7)
from steering column (4).
b. Installation.
Installation of the steering column is a reversal of
the removal procedure with attention given to the
following points:
(1)
Ensure four new self-locking nuts (3) and
bolts (1) are tightened.
(2)
Ensure scribe mark is aligned when
replacing steering column, if reusing.
c. Follow-On Maintenance.
(1)
Install turn signal (Para 12-26).
(2)
Install EGS (Para 12-25).
(3)
Install steering wheel (Para 5-10).
(4)
Install firewall (TM 5-2420-230-10).
