Filters
The primary fuel filter/water separator is positioned to protect the fuel transfer pump (Figure 21, Item 130) from
coarse contaminants, which could damage, clog, or get stuck inside it. Fuel enters the filter through inlet (Figure 21,
Item 145) at filter head (Figure 21, Item 146), and flows down through the tube (Figure 21, Item 147) in the center
of the element (Figure 21, Item 148). Water and the heavier fuel contaminants settle to the bottom of the element,
and from there, they pass into the water/sediment bowl (Figure 21, Item 149). Water can be drained off, and
contaminants removed, from the bowl, without removing the filter element.
